This year, the Rs.100-crore club was overhauled and swamped, as films like "Chennai Express" did super-fast record collection of Rs.216 crore at the box office.
Last year Bollywood witnessed remarkable hits like ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, ‘Son of Sardar’, ‘Agneepath’ cross the 100 crore mark but 2013 was the year that started a whole new 200 crore league! Here are the 5 Most successful films of 2013:
1. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was a coming-of-age romantic comedy film, directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Karan Johar. The film starred Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in lead roles. This was their second film together after their 2008 film Bachna Ae Haseeno. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has become the fourth highest grossing Bollywood film of all time in India and worldwide. The film is also the seventh highest grossing Bollywood films in overseas markets.
We think people just wanted to see Ranbir and Deepika come together in a larger than life love story!
2. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag was a biopic of the ‘Flying Sikh’, Milkha Singh, played by Farhan Akhtar. This film was beautifully made and Farhan delivered like he hadn’t before. This wasn’t a typical sports film but still was a pleasure to watch.
3. Krrish 3
The Indian Superhero finally got his day in the sun. Krrish 3 isn’t one of those must watch films nor does it have a great plot and narrative but people can’t resist a good good vs evil story even if it has Vivek Oberoi!
4. Chennai Express
Chennai Express proved that in a Bollywood masala film the plot scores no points whatsoever. Also, if King Khan stars in a film, it is bound to demolish all box office records. Deepika Padukone is rather adorable in the film but everything else is just explosives and bad dialogue. If you haven’t watched the film, don’t bother, it’s made a lot of money anyway.
We had a lot of expectations from Ram Leela but the film lacked panache, plot and common logic but there’s no denying the fact that Deepika and Ranveer compensated for all that was wrong with the film!
