I wonder how many liked the first Race that was released in 2008; may be, despised for the intricacies, yet Abbas-Mustan did manage to squeeze in a story amidst all the noise. It did do more than just well at the box office, touching 106 crores by the end
This time the star cast has been revamped, except for Saif Ali Khan and Anil Kapoor. While Saif continues to play his role of Ranvir Singh, the ruthless businessman and Anil Kapoor as detective Robert D’Costa, the new cast includes John Abraham, Ameesha Patel and Jacqueline Fernandez.
To see Deepika Padukone replicate her “Cocktail” persona; probably, elevated ten-fold with some catchy one-liners like this one: “Jab zindagi ki 1/3rd ko soh kar hi guzarna hai to akele kyun”. So, what else can you expect from an Abbas-Mustan movie; well, all that we could gather from the trailer is a twisted tale based on the usual underdog vs. the money hungry business tycoon.
Further, the movie seems excessively “Bappilahirious”, too much glamour and the unnecessary inclusion of a foreign backdrop. However, the latter is a trend with Abbas-Mustan but for a few it may seem unbelievable or, even hint at a wannabe recreation of the Bond films. Anyway, what we are really looking forward to see Ameesha Patel after ages and to pick out the humour that Anil Kapoor is sure to bring through his character.
