Thor 2 is quick on the heels of Avengers and if that is a benchmark to go by, we expect a Marvel-ous movie! Read on to know all the dope on the movie:
Caution: This post contains major spoilers (all thanks to one extremely talkative stunt co-ordinator) along with an exclusive look at who’s creaming who in the epic battle in the climax. You are advised to read the title thoroughly before proceeding.
When it comes to supernatural battles with wicked Norse Gods and diabolical Elves, there’s no telling how high the stakes will go. And one look at the official synopsis released by Marvel is enough to assure you that our hammer toting hero has his work cut out for him.
Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from an ancient race led by the Malekith the Accursed, who returns to plunge the earth into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
Hot on the heels of this revealing synopsis, comes the shocking news that the curtain is about to be drawn on one of the main characters from the first part. Rumour has it that Odin who almost left the field in the prequel might not make it out alive this time. And while the thought of a defenceless Asgard is disturbing, Marvel fans are busy crossing their fingers and hoping that Loki makes it out in one piece - Things would definitely be dull in Asgard realm without our favourite mischievous Norse God to shake things up a little with his ill famed attempts at power!
To clear the air and lay all speculation to rest, Andrew Lawden, (the same noble guy who spilled the beans on the forty Iron man suits coming our way next April) confirmed the hints the official synopsis has been tantalizing us with. “Thor becomes reunited with Jane who becomes possessed by a Dark Spirit, which is connected with the Dark Elves; a race the Asgardians have fallen out with many years beforehand. The Dark Elves attack Asgard, and they take a huge hit. So Thor has to rebuild Asgard by putting together an army to go and take the battle to the Dark Elves and defeat them. But the only way he can do this is – he needs to cross over to the Dark World, and the only person who has access to the dark side of Asgard is his old brother Loki, who at the beginning of the film is locked up in prison.”
Well, we have seen Thor valiantly sacrifice his life to defend Asgard from the Frozen Giants. We have seen him rallying with The Avengers to protect New York from the rogue Chitauri attack. Hell, we’ve even seen him trying to pacify an incensed Hulk. Yes, protecting nine realms at a go is a daunting task, but if the photo above is anything to by, we are putting our money on Thor kicking some accursed ass in the climax.
