Chetan Bhagat is back. No, he did not say something stupid on Twitter, he just asks for your good wishes because he is going to write the screenplay for Salman Khan's next film Kick.
He is really kicked about the idea and says he couldn’t have asked for a better debut into films. So, please can we have a round of applause for him…please…thank you.
The author’s books have been made into his films, sometimes with and without his permission; you must have heard about the film Hello, which was adapted from One Night @ the Call Center. While the film was not welcomed by the critics, it did moderately well at the box office. Also, we must give him credit for inspiring, through two of his books, the film 3 Idiots. Yet, this would be the first time he would be working closely with members of the film fraternity.
On the other hand, Kick will be a remake of a Telugu film of the same name. This Kick is going to be the same but with crucial changes, as confirmed by the Bhagat. In one of his blogs, he shared the plot, here is what he said: “Kick is a about a guy who lives life only for his kicks, a powerful concept and a perfect recipe for a Salman-Nadiadwala blockbuster.”
Probably, this is the best way for Chetan to reach the masses; he claims that the day he reaches Indian farmers he will consider himself a true Indian writer. Still, his aspirations seem a tad misleading; either he means that he wants to further diminish his capabilities as a writer to cater to the uneducated or he wants to raise the uneducated from their present state so that they can reciprocate to his experimentation with the Indian language. Either way it doesn’t seem like a win for the book savvy.
