Ranveer Singh used to be hot property in the world of newcomers, but in 2012, he barely had time to feel the wind as a host of debutants rushed past him and staked their claim on the best debut throne!
As a blanket generalization, Bollywood newcomers can easily be divided into two categories: Those who make an entrance, and when that goes unnoticed, loyally surface every two years in different avatars. And then there are those who manage to strike paydirt at the first go itself. The year 2012 saw a host of newcomers make their big screen debut with enough panache to make their seniors sit up straight and take notice.
Since it was impossible it was to get enough of these actors in just one film; we list down the upcoming projects that these debutants have given the nod to:
Pulling off the role of a sperm donor in a society as narrow minded as ours is no mean feat, but half the battle was won the instant Ayushmann Khurana flashed those adorable dimples. The popular MTV VJ took a break from anchoring to star in the widely appreciated Vicky Donor. (In fact, we think it is all those hoops that Raghu made him dance through in Roadies that has toughened him up for Bollywood life!) So amazing was the response to his debut film, that producer John Abraham and Ayushmann caved into to popular demand and decided to team up again in Hamara Bajaj.
Ever since Arjun Kapoor came on the scene, the image of the roadside Romeo got a whole lot hotter. And after getting an eyeful of his performance as the ill fated lover in Ishaqzaade, it is safe to say that this chokra’s acting skills are as jawaan as his other attributes. The 27 year old actor is currently trying to juggle between Taher’s Aurangzeb, Gunday and the 2 States remake, as well as a Telugu remake for his father Boney Kapoor. Oh, and did we mention that he has sunk his hooks into the lead role of Mr. India 2 as well?
Some say that his genes have Bollywood written all over them, but we think that this guy would have made it large even without the ‘Dhawan’ tag. He worked as an assistant director on a bevy of Bollywood films, but when Varun Dhawan made his debut, he made sure that the world noticed. Barely a few months into the industry and this Student’s diary is already choc-à-bloc with queen Ekta Kapoor’s ambitious remake of a Telugu rom com, a comedy under daddy Dhawan’s banner as well as a second outing with mentor Karan Johar.
Please don’t tell us that you didn’t see this coming, for it isn’t humanly possible to speak of one without mentioning the other. The 27 year old marked his entry in tinsel town with a sizzling debut that managed to heat up the blood of every girl under the age of 60. When he isn’t modelling for Roberto Cavalli, this très hot Student is working on Farah Khan’s Happy New Year, preparing for Karan Johar’s next as well as signing multiple film deals with Ekta Kapoor!
