Bhansali Breaks Silence, Confirms There’s No Love Scene Between Padmavati & Alauddin Khilji

The war against Padmavati had been waged a long time ago, but its only recently that its getting worse. With the Rajput Kerni Sena issuing open threats and Sarv Brahmin Mahasabha opposing the film’s release altogether, cinema owners in Rajasthan were reluctant about screening the film at all. Even though there were protests taking place and the leaders of these Hindu outfits were ready to take Bhansali down if he dared to show Rani Padmini in a compromising light, the director was quiet all along.

But since things only seem to be getting worse as the release date nears, Bhansali finally decided to speak up in an attempt to calm down everyone who seems to have a problem with Padmavati. Padmavati’s official Twitter handle posted a video by Sanjay Leela Bhansali rubbishing the rumours that there is a dream sequence between Rani Padmini, played by Deepika Padukone, and Alauddin Khilji, played by Ranveer Singh. The director said that he had stated the same in writing and still stands by his words. He further added, "We have made this film with a lot of responsibility and have kept the pride and honour of the Rajputs in mind."

Will this 1 minute 30 second video be enough to calm down the Hindu outfits who have already resorted to violence and are demanding a special screening to make sure the film is respectful enough for public viewing? We’re hoping, yes!

Padmavati releases on 1 December 2017.
