As we get closer to the release date of SLB’s Padmavati, the controversy surrounding the film is the party that won’t stop. While Rajput Kerni Sena’s threats and Sarv Bharmin Sena’s demands of a special screening did the rounds, we were almost convinced that the movie might not release on 1 December at all. But then, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali released a statement clarifying that there are no scenes in the film that will hurt any community’s sentiments or show Rani Padmini in a disrespectful light.

The star cast was mum about the whole chaos all this while, but they’ve finally decided to open up. At the GQ Fashion Nights on Sunday, Shahid Kapoor, who plays the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh in Padmavati, said, "I've been saying this since a long time. Watch the film and then decide. Give the film a chance and don't form preconceived notions." Following soon after, Deepika Padukone, who will be seen as Rani Padmini, in an interview with IANS, spoke with confidence that the film will release on 1 December 2017, no matter what. “It’s appalling, it’s absolutely appalling. What have we gotten ourselves into? And where have we reached as a nation? We have regressed,” Padukone said. “The only people we are answerable to is the censor board, and I know and I believe that nothing can stop the release of this film,” Padukone said, adding that the film industry’s support symbolises how “this is not about Padmavati… We’re fighting a much bigger battle.”

While Padukone and Kapoor seem seriously concerned about the whole controversy, guess who DGAF? Our very own Ranveer Singh a.k.a Alauddin Khilji seems to be vacationing hard while the promotions of the film are on. In fact, a couple of days ago the actor posted a picture on his Instagram handle that spoke volumes about what he thinks of the whole ‘fiasco’.
