UP State Tourism Left The Taj Mahal Out Of Their Tourism Booklet, But Not Really

If your newsfeed is flooded with reactions on how the Yogi Adityanath-led government excluded the Taj Mahal from their tourism booklet, take a step back, and calm down.

It is true that the tourism booklet, which speaks about their upcoming projects, did not include the world-renowned Taj Mahal and highlighted the temples of Ayodhya, Varanasi, Mathura, Gorakhpur and other UP cities instead. This then got topped with what Yogi Adityanath had said a few months ago—gifting miniature Taj Mahals to foreign delegates is not a part of Indian sabhyata. So obviously, everyone sort of put two and two together to conclude Adityanath’s dislike for the heritage site.

But everything has been blown out of proportion as usual. To clear the air and put a rest to all this unnecessary controversy, the UP state tourism ministry released an official statement: “The government, with the help of the World Bank, has proposed projects worth Rs 370 crore, of which projects worth Rs 156 crore are meant for development of the Taj Mahal and Taj Mahal region.”

Take a deep breath, yougaiz! While it all sounded all too believable, no one’s snatching any candies from Taj Mahal.
