The 'bandage dress' first invented by Frenchman Hervé Léger in late eighties was quite the celebrity favorite and a must-have for supermodels like Iman but like all trends and phases that achieve celebrity fueled 'IT' status, its popularity diminished (rather, nearly disappeared) by late nineties only to make a fierce comeback in the recent times! Under the able direction of Max Azria, the super-clingy 'bandage dress' made from ribbon-like strips of Lycra and Elastane (that give the dress its name) made a re-appearance on the runways and red-carpets, and how!

Hollywood celebs have long embraced this dress, how could then our own desi divas be far behind? And who better to wear this dress crafted out of stretch fabric that is mercilessly unforgiving while exposing every contour of the body than Shilpa Shetty? Even the voluptious Sophie worked the hell out of this dress. Seen on Gauri Khan, Suzanne Roshan, Kitu Gidwani among others, the Hervé Léger 'bandage dress' is in no shortage of takers!

And if you think its only the movie industry thats been enamoured by this dress, think again! Socialites are in on it too; Natasha Poonawala has been spotted in it and we think she wears it well! And of course Mrs Godrej has been spotted in it a number of times and boy, does she do justice to the dress! Seen the shape she's in?

We suspect the dress is only going to be spotted more frequently this side of the pond!
