Actor gloats following semi-moderate success
Apart from one of the only Bollywood actors to disregard vowels and word construction completely from his last name, Ajay 'Not a Typo' Devgn gloats to the media following sub-standard success to his Golmaal sequel under a different name, All the Best. The actor was quoted saying, "Not many actors and stars are capable of being versatile". *Sigh*... Such humility. The actor's brush with versatility, however, is wearing black kurta for the serious roles, wearing pink baby-tees and dyeing his hair lighter than his skin colour for the Rohit Shetty's lewd comedies (Golmaal and Golmaal Returns) and doing whatever the hell he wants for home production flops. The actor also defended his movies by calling them 'family movies', and as we all know 'family movies' here in Bollywood are something that are too retarded for young and old audiences alike. And by 'family', he probably means his own family. He further gave accolades to his best friend/ director Rohit Shetty through this quote: "Yes, Rohit has a knack of comedy and that reflects in his work. Success of films like All The Best, Golmaal Returns and Golmaal is a testimony to that."
A little analysis wouldn't hurt right...
What Devgn said: "Yes, Rohit has a knack of comedy and that reflects in his work."
What it really means: His comedy is the kind that relates to people who hang on top of train compartments and pass dirty comments at women.
What Devgn said: "Success of films like All The Best, Golmaal Returns and Golmaal is a testimony to that."
What it really means: Success of films like All The Best, Golmaal Returns and Golmaal is a testimony to a lot of things. That 'Rohit Shetty has a knack for comedy' is not one of those things. However, it IS testimony to the following:
1. Literacy rates in India, despite reforms, are still abysmally low.
2. There is no God.
3. The audience totally relate to loud colours, wearing shades at night and driving convertibles on Indian roads.
4. The world sure has a hell lotta auto-rickshaw drivers...
