Lunch is a hurried but much welcome affair for we are truly ravenous. And grateful that Serena Lodge serves the freshest and tastiest fare we have eaten. We return close to the Maasai village for the next task and see what the art department who were absent from the herding task today have conjured up. Again they have have done a phenomenal job. Parichit is a true genius. Sandy and him have executed this wild set up by collecting skulls from the many carcasses scattered across the park and with hay bales, have stood poles all across the ground.
They’ve also built and set up a pulley. Two members of each team will have to lift the third member with the bow and arrow using a pulley while they must hit as many hay bale targets as possible with the bow on fire. They’ve also made some beautiful arrows which Rannvijay has his eye on for his collection back home. Again Rishab, Chhotu and Rannvijay are trying it out, and it’s a goodie.
The Maasai have also organised for us a huge market and are displaying their colourful and beautiful wares proudly. Spectacular, cheerful beadwork, intricately carved knives, handmade artifacts and accessories. They’re shrewd sellers, “Please come promote my family” and will sell you anything on their tables or their bodies and we’re lapping it up, buying gifts for friends back home, hoping that we’re getting a bargain in the process.
