Baba Sehgal & Dhinchak Pooja Released Their New Songs And It’s Time We Appreciated Good Music

While you were celebrating Diwali this long weekend, two bombs dropped that you probably couldn’t hear over the loud crackers (let’s face it, the cracker ban wasn’t really implemented very well). One was queen of cringe pop Dhinchak Pooja’s new song Aafreen Fathima Bewafa Hai, and the other one was nonsense rapgod Baba Sehgal’s Tape Of You. With these two back to back releases, it’s hard to say if Indian music has ever hit greater heights in recent history.

Let’s talk about Pooja’s song first.

Ever wondered who the young men behind Pooja in all her videos are? Where do they come from? Are they her fans, her entourage or are they her bodyguards? Does Pooja pay them to be in her videos? Are they doing this for the money? Does Pooja really care about them? Turns out, she does. Aafreen Fathima Bewafa Hai is a song that Pooja penned down for all the dudes hanging out with her. Her empathetic soul cries for the throbbing hearts of her friends that have been left shattered in pieces by a foxy Fathima. It’s heartfelt, honest and can paint the pain of a lost love better than an Arijit Singh song. Check it out.

And now for Baba, Baba, Baba.

Baba Sehgal is relentless with productions. He writes, composes and releases song after song even today, light years past his glory days. His latest creation, Tape Of You is an enriched version of Ed Sheeran’s overachieving track, Shape Of You. Sehgal made sure that an amazing tune like Shape Of You finally got the lyrics that it deserved, and Tape Of You really proves how Sehgal’s music is only getting better. In some cultures. We just hope that by Tape Of You he’s not really trying to say what we suspect he might be. Find out yourself:
