On This Day in Music, Whitney Houston scored her first No. 1 single 'Saving All My Love For You'.
One of the most highly demanded pop artists of the late 80’s and 90’s was Whitney Houston; unfortunately, in the case of Whitney Houston, the same artist that mesmerized us with her voice in songs like “Saving All My Love for You”, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)” and “My Love Is Your Love”, was driven to insanity by her need to keep doing what she did best.
Towards the end, many critics complained that Houston had lost the plot; especially, the British media did not find it too hard to tear down the aura that Houston had worked so hard to put together. After, putting aside the drugs and disassociating herself from her ex-husband Bobby Brown, to finally coming back to music and composing an album and then not being accepted by the press; really, it sent Houston back to where she came from.
Wherever you are Whitney, we love you and you should have known that when you were voted the most awarded female act of all time; you are the only female singer to have two songs on the charts and the only singer to chart No. 1 on the Billboards consecutively, seven times. Today, this day in music Whitney Houston’s scored her first UK No.1 single with 'Saving All My Love For You'.
