Tete-a-tete with your VJ
How did you start Veejaying for MTV?
I was involved in a lot of radio and theatre in Delhi. I worked for the Literary Mission, did voice overs etc. The audition for MTV happened by chance. I was called in to judge but ended up auditioning myself! I've been around for almost 9 years now, which makes me one of the youngest people to join and stick around!
How do you feel about being the other Cyrus?
I think it's quite tragic. The comparison is ridiculous! We make a great team and we've never let a comparison of that sort ever come between us and our profession! There are two Akshays in Bollywood, they don't have a problem with that. Broacha and I are fantastic as friends!
What did you want to be as a child?
I was always amazed by the power of villains in the movies I saw. I never liked the heroes because they suffered too much for the end 15minutes of fame. Whereas, the villains were always living a good life with money and power. I wanted to be a smuggler. A little later in life, I decided I wanted to be a traffic policeman!
What do you prefer, MTV glory or Bollywood fame?
BOTH are absolutely alluring!
What has been the ultimate twist of fate in your life?
Irony! I've faced heaps of twists in my life. I think in my life, there are so many miracles, I cannot complain! The fact that I joined MTV at such a young age, it's been great!
Who matters to you most in your life?
Without a doubt, my family and friends!
Do you believe in God?
Yes, I do believe that a higher power exists. But I don't conform.
Your description of the perfect partner?
She needs to be intelligent, headstrong and strong willed. But above all, she needs to enjoy humor as much as I do! I like girls who take it easy and are simple. They shouldn't obsess over anything and everything.
What is the most ultimate experience you've had while traveling?
Lots! I got lost in a jungle, got adopted by people for a night, was stranded in a bus full of honeymooning couples! The list is endless…
Are you a workout enthusiast? What is your exercise routine like?
I think the gym is one big laugh riot! People moan, talk into the mirrors, laugh, cry, work their butts off! I prefer taking walks. I'm an obsessive walker. I'd rather jog than go to the gym, any day! But lately, I have been working out and getting fitter. Sadly, comedians are perceived as fairly unattractive people. I want to break that notion.
Do you support any social causes?
I would love to! My mother and sister have been actively involved in social activities for the longest time. I would love to be involved in something to do for women.
Do you have a pet?
I have a fish. It goes by the name Mr. Edge.
How good are you in the kitchen?
Yes, I'm a very good cook. A self-proclaimed genius in the kitchen is me!
Your fashion statement?
Jeans and oversized shirts. I love loose, comfortable clothing.
